Playball is a movement and sports development programme for children aged 2-9, where they learn a broad range of sporting skills and important physical attributes such as coordination, balance and spatial awareness. Children also learn essential life skills such as confidence, concentration, self-discipline and independence, all vital early learning goals that are basic building blocks for living successful lives.
Playball classes are different because children are hardly aware that they are learning, as the classes are a non-stop fun experience! Our coaches are highly skilled at maximising the time that each child spends practising their skills, using positive coaching methods. Being postive role models, they pass on their love of sport and activity to the children because of their extreme enthusiasm.
The programme was created in 1982 and is constantly being developed & updated by child development specialists, sports scientists and teachers. All lessons are designed specifically for each particular age and developmental level.
The Playball Programme is divided into 6 stages:
2 - 3 years Two Can Do
3 - 4 years Watch Me @ 3
4 - 5 years Dinkies
5 - 6 years Preps
6 - 7 years Players
7 - 9 years Pre-Season Sports
Younger groups (2-5yrs) focus more on motor develpoment (muscle tone, dominancy, bilateral symmetry and mid-line crossing) as well as motor skills (co-ordination, balance, timing, spatial orientation). The older groups (6-9yrs) actually begin to play the following sports: tennis, hockey, football, cricket, volleyball, basketball and baseball.
