"To see a little boy come to Playball unable to bounce a ball more than once and knowing that he would not be able to catch or hit the ball no matter how nicely I threw it to him……..to see that same little boy, hitting home runs in baseball during the players stage of Playball, motivates me. That is why I have been coaching Playball for ten years and I am still as enthusiastic and excited about Playball as when I first started".
To encourage and build confidence in children using sport as a means, to see their faces light up as they start achieving in skills they thought they could never do, makes every minute of Playball worthwhile for me. Also the knowledge that the Playball programme is a well researched and firmly established ‘FUNdamentals club’ which is educationally sound continues to boost my confidence in the programme and how it can help to positively reinforce children’s lives .
It is also rewarding to receive feedback on how ‘old Playball’ children have gone on to achieve success in various sports well into their teen years. I have ‘Playball moms’, whose children have now grown up, still promoting Playball to everyone because their own children have gone on to succeed in sport at school and county level. "Playball is a sports programme that works, I have seen it work time and time again".
Caryn Bradfield has a Human Movement Science Degree and is the centre manager and coach for Oxshott. She has operated a successful Playball centre in South Africa for 8 yrs where she coached over 900 children. She has been working as an assistant coach for the last two years in England and has recently started her own Playball centre. She has a Certified Entry Level Hockey coaching certificate, Introductory Tennis for Beginners and Intermediates certificate and is a Certified Swimming instructor. She has also competed at a competitive level in many sports including hockey, softball, swimming, athletics and volleyball
